Oilfield Pipe for Sale by the Truckload

Estimate full truckload (FTL), half or partial truckload (PTL), and less than a truckload (LTL) oilfield pipe quantities for common OCTG sizes of tubing and casing using our calculator.

Buying oilfield pipe by the truckload can lower the delivered cost per joint or by foot because freight is spread across more material. Truckload quantities vary by size, weight, length, trailer type, and trailer weight limits. The estimates below are general examples to help buyers compare full truckload, half or partial truckload, and less than a truckload of oilfield pipe orders.

Full Truckload vs Half Truckload vs LTL Pipe Orders

Compare common pipe order sizes and freight efficiency. Full truckload orders usually provide the lowest delivered cost per joint, while half truckload and LTL pipe orders may be useful for smaller quantity needs.

Best freight efficiency

Full Truckload Pipe Orders

Full truckload orders usually provide the lowest delivered cost per joint because freight is spread across the largest quantity of pipe.

  • Best option for larger pipe orders
  • Lower freight cost per joint
  • Common for tubing, casing, line pipe, and used pipe
Mid-size orders

Half Truckload Pipe Orders

Half truckload orders can make sense when you need more than a small shipment but do not need enough pipe for a full truckload.

  • Useful for moderate quantity orders
  • Better freight efficiency than small LTL orders
  • Availability depends on pipe size and freight options
Smaller shipments

LTL Pipe Orders

LTL and small pipe orders may be available depending on inventory, but freight cost per joint is typically higher than truckload orders.

  • Works for smaller quantity needs
  • Higher freight cost per joint
  • Best quoted case-by-case based on location and material

What Affects Pipe Truckload Quantity?

Truckload pipe quantities vary because every pipe order is different. A full truckload of 2-3/8″ tubing may include significantly more joints than a full truckload of 7″ casing because heavier pipe reaches truck weight capacity with fewer joints. Final quantities depend on the exact pipe size, weight per foot, wall thickness, joint length, trailer type, legal weight limits, and loading requirements.
